I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of EIectrical Engineering at Pennsylvania State University at University Park. I started as a Masters student from Fall 2005, but passed the Ph.D. candidacy examination in Spring 2006 and converted to Ph.D. Before this, I have been working as a lecturer at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Islamic University of Technology -- a subsidiary organ of the Organization of Islamic Countries -- at Gazipur, Bangladesh. I have been there from March 2005 till July 2006.

I obtained my B.Sc. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Department of EEE at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). I have been there from December 1998 until February 2005. The time-length was more than 4 years due to a lot of political unrest in the country and administrative problems encountered by the university which forced it to shut down quite often -- a huge problem many including myself attribute to student politics. Albeit I enjoyed my time there, and all that extra time was invested in a lot of other things apart from studies, such as this website. I graduated in February 2005 with a class rank of 8 and a GPA of 3.89, and got my first job at IUT within 2 weeks.

Looking further back, I passed my HSC (Higher-secondary School Certificate) from Notre Dame College in 1997, with 4th place in the Science Division under Dhaka Board of Education, and over 90% marks. I got my SSC (Secondary School Certificate) from Engineering University School in 1995, with 10th place in the Science Division under the same board of education.

I speak three languages - Bangla - my mother tongue, English and French.

This website was started when I was a Level 3 Term 1 student at BUET in 2003. I hope you would understand why I started building it -- getting away from all the engineering and cranky math. So, you won't see much of that here. Besides my engineering career interests, I have a lot of other interests. I love to study History, specially about the Ancient Civilizations of the world; I like literature, although I don't find enough time now to read big novels; I listen to music all the time and have a huge mp3 collection; and I love to collect postage stamps - this hobby has been endangered more than once, but I revived it again after coming here to cold Pennsylvania, to pass some time!! I also love chatting on MSN and Yahoo, but I am not really into chatrooms, and don't really hit it off with complete strangers that well. But if you'd still like to talk to me, add me to your MSN messenger, with a short profile of yourself.

I try to live in the present. I follow the wind, and go where it takes me. My foremost preference right now is to graduate with the degree as soon as possible. Maybe I will go back to my old teaching job once I graduate. I still dream to study history or archaeology -- academically -- someday. And it would also be great if I could travel around the whole world, go to ancient ruins and meet people with ancient heritages...
